FAQ

What can I expect at the first session?

In our first session, I'll ask about what's brought you here, along with some context about your life and history that helps me understand your world more fully. You're always free to share your own questions and preferences too. If you're not sure where to start, that's completely normal — I'm here to guide the conversation.

Do you offer a free introductory call?

I don't offer a free introductory call. In my experience, the therapeutic relationship begins the moment I start hearing your story, and I have a responsibility to protect that space with a clear, official agreement from the start. For that reason, we begin directly with a full, paid initial session.

What languages do you offer sessions in?

I offer sessions in English and Vietnamese.

How often do we meet?

The frequency of sessions is a shared decision, guided by your needs and the pace that feels right for you. In my experience, it's often most effective to start with weekly sessions, giving us the consistency to build momentum early on. As you begin to feel more stable, we can transition to every two weeks, and later to monthly check-ins to support what you've built. This isn't a fixed path — we adjust it together as we go.

How long does therapy last?

This looks different for everyone. In my experience, most clients I work with on personality-related patterns and complex trauma tend to need longer-term work, typically roughly 1.5 to 5 years, since this kind of change happens gradually and needs time to settle. Clients working primarily with existential questions often need less time — sometimes as few as 8 to 20 sessions — though this depends a lot on the root cause we uncover together. We check in together regularly and adjust based on your needs.

How long is each session?

Each individual session is 60 minutes.

Do you offer couples therapy?

Not at this time — my practice is currently focused on individual therapy.

How much does a session cost?

Each session is €90. You can find more detail on payment and cancellation on the Therapy page.

Is this a safe space for LGBTQ+ clients?

Yes. My practice is grounded in respect and care for people of all identities, backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences.

Do you offer in-person or online sessions?

Both, depending on what works best for you. In-person sessions take place at my practice in Utrecht; online sessions are held via Google Meet.

Is the practice wheelchair accessible?

My practice is located on the second floor, and unfortunately there is no wheelchair access at this time.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments are charged at the full session fee.

Is everything we discuss confidential?

Yes. What you share in our sessions is treated as strictly confidential, in line with NIP's professional and ethical guidelines. There are rare situations where I may be ethically required to act to keep you or someone else safe — if this ever becomes relevant, I'll always aim to be transparent and supportive with you about it.

What happens if I'm in crisis or need urgent help?

My practice is not equipped to provide emergency crisis intervention. If you're in crisis, please contact your local GP (huisarts) or the national suicide prevention line (113).

Have a question that isn't answered here?
